Fashion at the Races: Coast to Coast

This weekend you have your choice of being a Cali Girl or a New Yorker! The Pacific Classic at Del Mar and the Travers Stakes at Saratoga bring the next installment in our Breeders’ Cup Win and You're In fashion series. Either way, it is going to be hot and sunny and we are going to focus on staying cool.

As we like to say, #BeBetterThanTheFloppy and leave those floppy sun hats at home. This is a great weekend to wear a brimmed piece to keep the sun out of your eyes and protect your beautiful skin. Sinamay and straw are the two hat materials you want to choose from. Christine Moore offers some great pieces that will be perfect for either raceday.

Keep the fabric of your dress or skirt and top light. Chiffon or cotton fabric will let the summer breeze cool you down and also keep you looking elegant on raceday. A-line skirts are perfect for the hotter days as you aren’t as confined as you would be in a pencil fit.

Choose light summery colors such as pinks and yellows. Love pastels for summer days as they tend to bounce the hot sun away from you and also bring out your fabulous tan! No tan? Try a spray tan at your local salon. It will usually cost between $15-20 and leave you with a healthy glow for your race day!

Jewelry will be a huge hit on these days. Statement pieces are so on trend right now and can show off your style and personality and also start up conversation! Who doesn’t like having a cocktail and talking about where they bought their fabulous accessories? Check out Chloe and Isabel pieces for the races — the jewelry comes with a lifetime guarantee if you get too excited cheering on your horse and something breaks.

As always, have fun with your race day fashion and have a cocktail for us!
